MATCH 1

PRAIRIE VIEW - In a challenging tennis match on Friday morning, the Prairie View A&M Panthers couldn't secure a win against the Nicholls State Colonels in their home turf at the PVAMU Tennis Coutrs. The match saw Nicholls State emerging victorious, claiming both singles and doubles victories against the Panthers.

In the singles category, the Colonels showcased strong performances, with Maxwell Lindstedt and Marcell Marki defeating their Prairie View counterparts 6-3, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1 respectively. For the Panthers, Xavier Peter-Gooding and Eduardo Nunez Prado managed to tie their matches, keeping some hope alive for the team, but it was not enough to turn the tide. In doubles, the standout Panther pair was Devyn Gans and Nunez Prado, who secured a win 6-3 against Nicholls State's Jewan Labuschagne and Gerhard Venter. However, Nicholls State claimed the overall doubles victory with a score of 2-1.

Despite the Panthers' commendable effort and a few close performances, the continuous struggle in the season is reflected in their current record of 0-9. The team will need to regroup and intensify their training as they look forward to breaking this cycle in the upcoming fixtures.

MATCH 2

In match two the Panthers faced another challenging tennis confrontation on Friday afternoon.  The Panthers were unable to secure a win against the Nicholls State Colonels, resulting in a 4-0 match sweep. The men's tennis team from Prairie View A&M, known for their resilience, faced stiff competition from the Colonels in a series of intense singles and doubles matches.

Highlighted individual performances from Nicholls State included Kotaro Matsumura who bested Ethan Boswell 6-2, 6-1, and Mike Wood, who defeated Ashton Bunch 6-2, 6-3. Additionally, Jewan Labuschagne overcame Prairie View's Devyn Gans with a 6-7, 4-2 victory, showcasing the strength of Nicholls State's squad. Despite the tough day, 

In doubles action, Nicholls State continued their domination with Marcell Marki and Maxwell Lindstedt overcoming Prairie View's duo Ashton Bunch and Ethan Boswell 5-2. Further, Kotaro Matsumura and Felipe Spagnuolo, along with Mike Wood and Colin Tavares, recorded significant 6-3 and 6-1 wins, respectively, contributing to the overall sweep.

The Prairie View A&M Panthers, now with a season record of 0-10, look forward to regrouping and facing their next opponent, UTRGV, on February 9, 2025, in Edinburg, Texas. This forthcoming event gives the Panthers another opportunity to refine their plays and possibly turn their season around.
