LORMAN, MS -- The Prairie View A&M Panthers women's basketball team faced a challenging game against the Alcorn Braves, ending in a 61-39 defeat on March 1, 2025, at the Davey L. Whitney Health & Physical Education Complex in Lorman, MS.
From the start, Alcorn took the lead, dominating the Panthers with precise offensive strategies and a strong defensive game. Despite the efforts of top scorers Amauri Williams, who led the Panthers with 10 points, CJ Wilson with 9 points and 5 steals, and Ash'a Thompson chipped in as well with six points and two steals, Prairie View struggled to overcome the early disadvantage. Alcorn's intense defensive pressure and successful shooting led them to maintain control throughout the game, leaving the Panthers trailing by significant margins at the end of each period.
Prairie View A&M forced 17 Alcorn State turnovers while committing 16 themselves in Saturday's game. The Panthers turned those takeaways into 11 points on the offensive end of the floor. Wilson's five steals led the way for Prairie View A&M.
