Women's Basketball Set to Take on First Round SWAC Tournament Against Bethune Cookman

3/10/2025 7:49:00 PM

On March 11, 2025, the Prairie View A&M Panthers, led by Head Coach Sandy Pugh, will face Bethune Cookman College in the first round of the SWAC Championship Tournament basketball game. This match-up sets the stage for an intense battle, with Prairie View A&M entering as the 10th seed against the 7th seeded Bethune Cookman.

Prairie View A&M's current season record stands at 9-18, with a conference record of 6-12. Having edged out Bethune Cookman 65-60 in their last encounter, the Panthers aim to repeat their victorious performance and punch their ticket to face #2 seed Texas Southern on March 12. Despite playing away from home in Atlanta, Georgia, the team's morale is buoyed by exceptional young talent, including Crystal Schultz, the SWAC Freshman of the Year.

Alongside Schultz, players like CJ Wilson, Nyam Thornton, Amauri Williams, and Ash'a Thompson are pivotal in Prairie View A&M's strategy to overcome their seeding disadvantage and advance in the tournament. Coach Pugh's leadership will be crucial as the Panthers seek to create a tournament upset and continue their journey in the quest for a conference championship. The stakes are high, and a victory could significantly influence the team's progression this season.

All games will be broadcasted live on ESPN+. Fans can tune in at 11:00 am to watch the women's basketball team in the tournament. Click here to stream.
