Day Four of Football Camp: Panthers Making Stride in Pads

8/2/2025 11:16:00 PM

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — Prairie View A&M football took another step forward on Saturday as the Panthers returned to the field for Day Four of fall camp with pads on.

The energy was noticeable from the outset, and while the journey is still in its early stages, new Head Coach Tremaine Jackson sees progress.

"We are starting to get some form of football shape and we had pads on," Jackson said. "This team is brand new with 77 or so new guys, so things have to look a certain way by the standard that we have. And now they are starting to get a sneak peek of what those things should look like. We are certainly not there yet, but we are closer today than what we were when we first started and it's been a little bit better."

With a roster full of fresh faces, chemistry and timing are still developing, but signs of cohesion are beginning to show.

"The guys are learning each other and the enthusiasm was better," Jackson added. "I wouldn't say we were great, but I would say we are getting better than day one."

Prairie View A&M continues its week of preseason practices in preparation for the season opener on Saturday, August 30, at Shell Energy Stadium for the 40th Labor Day Classic against Texas Southern.
