STEPHENVILLE, TX --The Prairie View A&M volleyball team needed only four sets (29-27, 25-18, 24-26, 25-17, 25-17) to defeat the Northwestern State Lady Demons Friday at Wisdom Volleyball Gym.
The out-of-conference victory improved the Lady Panthers' overall record to 1-4 on the season.
The Lady Panthers attack was paced by D'Mya Hill, who finished with 10 kills on the day, and by Kylee Owens, who had 10. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as Leila Smalls had 15 and Tayler Ruffin had 10.

SET 3 | Prairie View A&M saw its bid for a 3-0 sweep end when Northwestern State took set three. The Lady Panthers fell in a close set, losing 26-24 in a stanza that was tied six times and had one lead change.
SET 4 | Prairie View A&M then responded to earn the match win with a 25-17 set-four victory. The Lady Panthers scored first and never trailed in the set to secure the victory. Prairie View A&M opened up as much as an 11 point lead at 22-11 before closing out the stanza.

The Prairie View A&M volleyball team beat the Tarleton State Texans 3-2 (22-25, 25-18, 17-25, 25-23, 15-10) Friday on the road at Wisdom Volleyball Gym.
The non-conference win improved the Lady Panthers' overall record to 2-4 on the season.
The Lady Panthers were led by a double-double from Kylee Owens, who registered 17 kills and 13 digs on the day. D'Mya Hill also added 17 kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Leila Smalls chipped in for with 22 digs to go with nine blocks from Adlene Jideofor.

SET 2 | Prairie View A&M fought back after dropping the first set to take the second set 25-18, tying the match at one set apiece. The Lady Panthers grabbed control of the set lead early on at 5-4 and held the lead the rest of the way. Prairie View A&M led by as many as nine points at 19-10 before finishing off the set. The Prairie View A&M offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza.
SET 3 | Tarleton State went up 2-1 after taking down the Lady Panthers in the third set. The Lady Panthers fell in a tough set 25-17. Prairie View A&M trailed by as many as eight points as Tarleton State grabbed the advantage for good at 10-9 in a set that was tied up seven times before the Texans took over the lead.
SET 4 | Prairie View A&M then responded to secure set four 25-23 to force a fifth set. The Lady Panthers took the lead for good at 18-17 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Lady Panthers took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 5 | Down two sets to one, Prairie View A&M powered back to win the final two sets, culminating in a 15-10 fifth-set victory, to take the match 3-2. The Lady Panthers scored first and never trailed in the fifth set to secure the victory. Prairie View A&M ended on a high note, opening its biggest lead of the stanza, five points, to finish off the set, collecting 10 kills while only committing one attack error in the process.
