Prairie View A&M closed out the SWAC West Round Up with a fifth-place team finish, totaling 12,193 pins over the weekend at Max Bowl in Humble, Texas. The Panthers averaged 174.2 for the event, competing against a strong Southwestern Athletic Conference field on their home-hosted round up.
The tournament, hosted by Prairie View A&M, featured traditional match play against several league opponents. The Panthers dropped decisions to Alabama State (906-968), Jackson State (787-1000), Alabama A&M (871-949) and Southern (801-1027), but produced several standout individual efforts that kept them competitive in total pinfall and the overall standings.
Individually, Nevaeh Brown led Prairie View A&M with one of the top performances of the event. Brown finished seventh overall in the individual standings, amassing 2,825 pins across the tournament. Her consistency across multiple matches was a key factor in the team's fifth-place finish in total pins.
Caroline Lewis added another top-10 showing for Prairie View A&M, placing 10th overall with 2,524 pins. Lewis delivered two of the team's biggest games of the day, opening with a 208 in the first match and returning with a 225 in the third. Those 200-plus efforts provided a spark in the rotation and gave the Panthers some of their highest single-game scores of the round up.
Rounding out the Panthers' scoring lineup, Miranda Fuentes finished the tournament with 2,443 pins, while Skylar Alexander contributed 2,357 pins and Chandler Townsend added 2,284. Together with Brown and Lewis, the group formed a steady core that allowed Prairie View A&M to maintain a solid team average despite facing some of the highest-scoring lineups in the conference.
Prairie View A&M will look to build on its individual success and overall fifth-place showing as it returns to the lanes next week. The Panthers are set to host the 15th annual Prairie View Invitational at the International Training and Research Center in Arlington, Texas, an event that annually attracts many of the top-ranked NCAA bowling programs. The upcoming invitational will give Prairie View A&M another opportunity to test itself against elite competition and continue developing momentum as the season progresses.
