PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — The Prairie View A&M Panthers delivered a commanding performance on Friday, sweeping the Alcorn State Lady Braves in a doubleheader with an 8-3 victory in Game 1 followed by a dominant 12-0 shutout in Game 2.
With the pair of wins, Prairie View A&M improved to 24-14 overall and 16-1 in conference play.
GAME 1 | Prairie View A&M 8, Alcorn State 3
Prairie View A&M set the tone early and never relinquished control, using timely hitting and a strong outing in the circle to secure the 8-3 win.
The Panthers struck first in the opening inning as Kayla Zaid crossed the plate to give PVAMU a 1-0 advantage. After Alcorn State briefly tied the game, Prairie View A&M responded with a three-run second inning, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Dyani McKinley to take a 4-1 lead.
The Panthers continued to build momentum, adding two more runs in the third inning, including an RBI triple, to stretch the lead to 6-1. Kearstin Tinsley delivered an RBI single in the fourth to make it 7-2 before McKinley capped the scoring with a solo home run in the sixth.
Kayla Adams (13-6) was solid in the circle, tossing 7.1 innings while allowing three earned runs on 12 hits, striking out three to earn the win.

Prairie View A&M's offense was relentless from the start, with Mia Nunez sparking the attack and contributing two extra-base hits in the contest. The Panthers added one more run in the third inning to complete the 12-0 rout.
In the circle, Yazmyn Stewart (9-2) and Caden Young combined for a four-hit shutout. Stewart went four innings, allowing just four hits with no walks, while Young closed things out with a hitless inning of relief.
