Womn's Track Heads to SWAC Outdoor Championships with Strong Lineup

5/9/2026 12:51:00 PM

Prairie View A&M women's track and field enters the SWAC Outdoor Championships with a chance to chase its first conference outdoor team title since 2023 when the meet opens May 10 at A.W. Mumford Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The three-day championship runs through May 12, with most prelims scheduled for May 10 and May 11 before all finals are contested on the last day. For the Panthers, the weekend sets up as a test of top-end talent, scoring depth and whether a balanced roster can stay in contention across the track and field events.

The Panthers bring several athletes with conference-level rankings that could shape the team race. Mariah Turner enters as the top-ranked competitor in the high jump, giving Prairie View A&M one of its clearest opportunities for a major point total. In the jumps, Sanai Kintchen is ranked second in the long jump, while Yasmine Rogers is third and Jada Stanford fifth in the triple jump. Jaliyah Gray, who placed third indoors, is ranked third in the pole vault, and Michaela Booker adds versatility with a fourth-place ranking in the shot put and an eighth-place mark in the javelin.

On the track, Prairie View A&M has multiple athletes positioned to push into finals and score. Mikyah McDonald is ranked fourth in the 100 meters and seventh in the 200, giving the Panthers a presence in two sprint events, while Nikiyah Williams is sixth in the 400. Treasure Bethea enters ranked sixth in the 800, Nina Story is seventh in the 1,500, and the Panthers' 4x100-meter relay is ranked fifth. Those marks suggest Prairie View A&M may need steady advancement through the early rounds, then a strong closing day in the finals to assemble enough points to challenge near the top of the standings.

The competitive dynamic for Prairie View A&M could come down to how much the Panthers can capitalize on their strength in the field events while adding track points across the sprints, middle distance and relay. With Turner, Kintchen, Rogers, Gray and Booker all entering with strong conference positions, the Panthers have multiple event areas that can generate momentum

The meet can be watched live on SWAC TV, and live results will be available online as Prairie View A&M looks to put together a three-day push in Baton Rouge. With prelims setting the board early and every final concentrated on the last day, the Panthers' path may be defined by how many athletes survive the opening rounds and how quickly the field-event group can start stacking points.
