PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — The defending Southwestern Athletic Conference champions continue to garner national recognition heading into the 2026 football season, as Prairie View A&M shares five selections with South Carolina State earning BOXTOROW 2026 HBCU College Football Preseason All-America Team.

The Panthers' five selections are tied with SC State marking the teams as the HBCU programs on the prestigious preseason team, which is selected by media members who cover HBCU football. This marks the 20th season BOXTOROW has produced its HBCU College Football Preseason All-America Team.

Prairie View A&M's selections include running back Chase Bingmon, offensive lineman Calvin McMillian, tight end Travon Jones, defensive lineman Malik Gucake and defensive back Eric Zachery.

Bingmon earned preseason All-America recognition following a breakout freshman campaign in which he established himself as one of the top young running backs in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The Terrell, Texas native is listed as a redshirt sophomore on the 2026 team.

McMillian returns as one of the anchors of the Panthers' offensive line. The Houston, Mississippi native earned 2025 HBCU All-American honors and enters his final season as one of the most experienced players on the Prairie View A&M offense.

Jones, a graduate tight end from Miami, Florida, gives the Panthers another veteran presence on offense and was recognized alongside Bingmon and McMillian on the BOXTOROW preseason team.

Defensively, Gucake and Zachery were among the top vote-getters following standout 2025 seasons.

Gucake recorded 42 tackles, including 14 solo stops, 10.5 tackles for loss and two sacks while adding three pass breakups. The Sacramento, California native returns as a key piece of a Prairie View A&M defense looking to build on the success of last season.

Zachery was one of the nation's top defensive backs in pass coverage last season. His 15 passes defended ranked tied for sixth in the Football Championship Subdivision. He finished the season with 13 pass breakups, two interceptions, 50 tackles, including 27 solo stops, and 2.5 tackles for loss.

The five selections further highlight the depth and talent returning to Prairie View A&M following a historic 2025 campaign. The Panthers captured the SWAC Championship and enter the 2026 season with high expectations as they look to defend their conference title.
