Lea Murphy, a sophomore from Pearland, Texas and a civil engineering major, Lea brings a personal best of 18:47.80 in the 5K and already made her mark by finishing 12th at the SWAC Cross Country Championship and earning SWAC Runner of the Week as a freshman. Inspired by her family and driven by her love for competition and teamwork, she thrives in both individual and collective goals. This season, she aims to break into the top 10 at SWAC and help lead her team to a conference championship.

Lea chose Prairie View A&M in part because of her family's connection: her mother is a proud alumna and she's now building her own legacy on campus. Off the course, she enjoys playing Minecraft, building Legos, and reading manga. Her favorite movie is Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and she’s a fan of Chris Brown and spaghetti with meatballs. Christmas holds a special place in her heart because it's a time to connect with family. Looking ahead, Lea hopes to graduate with a degree in civil engineering and pursue a career in the field. With a strong work ethic, competitive edge, and team spirit, Lea is a standout presence for the PVAMU cross country program.
