Biography
Thierry Garcon is a sophomore at Prairie View A&M University entering his second cross country season. With a personal best of 27:14 in the 8K, he has made significant strides in his athletic career. Notable achievements include being named to the 1st Team All-SWAC in the 2023 cross country season and securing 2nd place in the Distance Medley Relay (DMR) during the 2024 indoor season. For the upcoming cross country season, Thierry aims to win the SWAC championship, demonstrating his commitment to excellence.
A graduate of Cypress Ranch High School, Thierry found inspiration to pursue track after witnessing Mo Farah's remarkable victory in the 2016 Olympic 5K. His passion for running is complemented by hobbies such as watching college football, and he has a particular fondness for shrimp, his favorite food. Halloween stands out as his favorite holiday, primarily because of the joy that candy brings.
Running not only fuels Thierry's competitive spirit but also motivates him with the prospect of post-race meals. He acknowledges the challenges athletes face today, especially the risk of overtraining. A standout moment in his athletic journey was competing at the state cross country championship during his senior year, an experience that solidified his dedication to the sport.
Looking ahead five years, Thierry hopes to graduate from law school and begin a career as a criminal lawyer. He chose Prairie View A&M for its vibrant colors and strong community, making it a perfect fit for both his academic and athletic aspirations.
