Prairie View A&M University Athletics

RULES AND CRITERIA: In making a nomination for induction into PVAMU's Sports Hall of Fame, the candidate must meet the following criteria:

Former Student-Athlete can become eligible for the Hall of Fame five (5) years after finishing their academic eligibility. The Nominee must have demonstrated outstanding athletic ability to the degree that such skills and accomplishments were recognized by an organization external to the University. The Nominee shall have the qualifications exhibited after completion of athletic eligibility, such as leadership, sportsmanship, character, integrity, and community service, and be one who has brought great distinction to the University. Must be a graduate of Prairie View A&M University unless drafted on a professional team or entered into the military services.

Head Coach shall become eligible five (5) years after their coaching career at PVAMU Athletics Department. The service years do not have to be consecutive. The Nominee must have positively represented Prairie View A&M University, upheld the University's values, and significantly impacted PVAMU athletics. They must have won a SWAC Championship Title.

A Team can be eligible for the Hall of Fame five (5) years after winning their SWAC Championship Title. The Team must have achieved exceptional accomplishments at the conference level. The Team nomination should only consist of the active team roster as a student-athlete and coaches only.

A Supporter/Contributor can be an Administrator, Alumnus, or other Athletic Supporter. If the Supporter/Contributor was a PVAMU University employee, they must no longer be employed by Prairie View A&M University for seven (7) years. The Supporter/Contributor must be a positive role model, show leadership qualities, and must have contributed to the PVAMU Athletics Department for seven (7) or more consecutive years. The Supporter/Contributor's financial contributions may be considered but will not be the sole reason for selection. 

CATEGORIES OF RATING FOR FORMER STUDENT-ATHLETE I. University Affiliation. Individuals must have demonstrated outstanding athletic accomplishments while at Prairie View A&M University. Individuals must be a graduates of PVAMU unless drafted by a professional team or entered into the Military II. Community Service. Have a record of activity in positive community endeavors. Show evidence of interest and concern for the community through membership in civic organizations, volunteer groups, churches, and other non-profit organizations that have as their purpose the improvement of human conditions III. Leadership. Evidence of leadership may include offices held in organizations, committee chairmanship, significant addresses before educational groups, conventions, assemblies, luncheon meetings, television and radio presentations, and such other meetings or affairs held in the interest and promotion of mankind. Leadership may be exhibited through initiating systematic research which has helped to increase and improve man's productivity and the quality of human life. Leadership may also include authorship or coauthorship of books, magazine articles, and monographs that have the underlying intent of furthering positive goals.

CATEGORIES OF RATING FOR HEAD COACH:  
Must have coached at Prairie View A&M University for at least 5 years.
Must have positively represented PVAMU and upheld its values of the University.
Must have made a positive, significant impact on athletics at Prairie View A&M University  Must have won a SWAC Championship Title.
Must have been a positive role model and show leadership qualities.

CATEGORIES OF RATING FOR TEAM: 
Must have achieved exceptional accomplishment at the conference level? Must have won the PVAMU SWAC Championship title at least 5 years ago ? Must have been on an active team roster as a student-athlete or coach (No support staff) CATEGORIES OF RATING FOR SUPPORTERS/CONTRIBUTORS? Must be or have been an Administrator, Alumnus, or other Athletic Supporter. ? No longer be employed by Prairie View A&M University for 7 years? Have positively represented Prairie View A&M University and upheld the values of the University? Be a positive role model and show leadership qualities. Made a positive, significant impact on athletics at Prairie View A&M University?  Financial contributions may be considered but will not be the sole reason for selection of an individual
