Prairie View A&M University Athletics

Kayla Frye is a Junior Kinesiology major from Atlanta, Georgia, and a graduate of KIPP Atlanta Collegiate. She chose Prairie View A&M University to experience an HBCU that offered the right balance of independence while staying within reasonable reach of family. Inspired by her high school football coach to pursue athletic training, Kayla joined the sports medicine staff as a Student Athletic Trainer Aide, where her most memorable moment was breaking her foot and hanging out on "Muscle Beach" alongside injured football players recovering during practice.

Kayla considers strong communication, first aid/CPR knowledge, and keen observation to be the most critical skills for an athletic trainer aide. She finds football and track to be the most engaging sports to support on campus. Five years down the line, she aims to land a position working with a professional sports team, with an ultimate dream job of becoming a Strength and Conditioning Coach. Outside of her academic and athletic training duties, Kayla enjoys shopping and eating alfredo. Her favorite holiday is Christmas because it brings her entire family together to celebrate.
