2026-27 Athletic Training Student Aides Roster
Biography
Saniya Smith is a Junior Kinesiology major from Houston, Texas, and a graduate of Langham Creek High School. Having spent much of her childhood on campus because the majority of her family graduated from Prairie View A&M University, choosing PVAMU felt like coming home. Saniya was inspired to join the sports medicine program by her father, whose deep passion for sports and belief in her athletic future guided her toward becoming a Student Athletic Trainer Aide.
Saniya considers a strong willingness to learn—asking questions, adapting to different athlete needs, and embracing hands-on experience—to be the single most crucial quality for an athletic trainer aide. Working primarily with football, her most memorable experience on staff was participating in fall camp, which allowed her to learn rapidly and establish a routine early in the season. Looking ahead five years, Saniya aims to hold her degree and be actively building her career in sports medicine, with an ultimate dream job of becoming a Physical Therapist. Outside of her studies and sports medicine duties, she enjoys doing her makeup, eating sushi, listening to Loe Shimmy, and watching Creed III. Her favorite holiday is Christmas for its festive decorations and cool seasonal weather.
