Prairie View A&M University Athletics

Steven Powell Jr. is a Computer Engineering major from Houston, Texas, who chose Prairie View A&M University to stay close to home while immersing himself in the rich culture and history of the institution. A member of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), Steven is focused on expanding his creative and technical capabilities within the media program by mastering all film positions, learning proper intercutting and uploading techniques, and elevating his photography and videography content.

An avid fan of the Seattle Seahawks, his favorite sport to cover is football, and his dream assignment would be capturing the action at the NFL Super Bowl. Looking ahead to the 2026 season, he is eager for the overall experience and the opportunity to contribute to a successful media team. Outside of academics and media production, Steven enjoys taking pictures, working out, cooking (with chicken topping his list of favorite foods), and relaxing with his favorite movie, Cars 2, or music from Babyface Ray. His favorite holiday is Christmas for the quality time it brings with family, and if he could instantly master any skill, it would be intercutting film.
