Carvin Watson Jr., a graduate student and wide receiver from Spring, Texas, is currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration at Prairie View A&M. After earning his undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University, Carvin decided to continue his academic and athletic journey at Prairie View A&M, drawn by the opportunity to experience the unique culture of an HBCU and remain close to home.
Carvin’s favorite entertainer is Sy Ari da Kid, and he holds Remember the Titans as his all-time favorite movie. When it comes to food, he’s a fan of steak and ribs, and he treasures Christmas for its ability to bring his family together, allowing them to reconnect and share their year’s experiences. His hobbies include working out, reading, and coaching or training younger athletes, reflecting his commitment to both personal development and giving back to the community.
On game days, Carvin’s ritual involves listening to music, dancing, and freestyling with his teammates. This routine helps him clear his mind and focus on the game. He views the biggest challenge for athletes today as creating an identity outside of their sport, a challenge he is actively navigating.
One of Carvin’s most memorable moments on the field was scoring his first touchdown as a receiver during the third round of the playoffs at Kyle Field. Additionally, making significant plays against highly recruited athletes as a walk-on at TCU, despite only being in his second year as a receiver, was a major confidence booster for him.
Looking ahead five years, Carvin hopes to have earned two degrees and secured a spot on a professional roster. His dream job is to become an international fitness trainer or professional athlete. He chose Prairie View A&M for its proximity to home, the chance to experience the HBCU culture, and the convenience of having his parents attend his home games.
