Jayce Medlock is a senior tight end from Dallas, Texas majoring in Health and Physical Education, and a transfer from Alabama State University and the University of Connecticut.
Jayce’s downtime activities reflect his well-rounded interests: he enjoys watching TV, hanging out with friends, playing on his PlayStation 5, and working out. His favorite entertainer is the Dave Chappelle, and he is a big fan of the action-packed film John Wick. When it comes to food, Jayce has a particular fondness for Cajun chicken pasta, and he looks forward to Thanksgiving not only for the delicious food but also for the football games.
On game days, Jayce follows a focused ritual. He takes time to walk the field while listening to sports hypnosis audio, helping him mentally prepare for the challenges ahead. He believes that one of the greatest challenges for athletes today is balancing schoolwork with the rigorous demands of preparing for games every week.
One of Jayce’s most memorable moments in his sport was receiving his first scholarship to play Division I football—a milestone that marked a significant achievement in his athletic journey. Looking ahead, he envisions himself coaching players and building valuable connections that will contribute to his success in the future. His dream job is to become an NFL play caller or offensive coordinator.
Jayce chose Prairie View A&M because he believes the university offers resources and facilities that stand out among SWAC colleges.
