Leah Lawson, a senior setter from Arlington, Texas, is majoring in Kinesiology at Prairie View A&M. She previously attended Newman International Academy in Arlington and East Central University. Leah was inspired to play volleyball by her sisters, who were her role models and initial motivators in the sport.

Her favorite food includes potatoes, chips, and queso, and she cherishes Thanksgiving for its festive food and family gatherings. Although her favorite all-time movie and entertainer are not specified, Leah enjoys a good nap as one of her hobbies.

Leah’s passion for volleyball is fueled by the support and belief of those who encouraged her when she doubted herself. She identifies the challenge of knowing when to push through adversity versus taking necessary rest as a significant issue for athletes today.

One of her most memorable moments in the sport was the 2023 season, which stood out as a highlight in her volleyball career. In five years, Leah hopes to be established in a fulfilling career and continues to aspire to a successful professional life.
