Biography
Damion Phillips is a senior track and field athlete from New Orleans, Louisiana. Damion participates in pole vault, heptathlon, and decathlon events, showcasing his versatility and dedication to multi-event competitions. He is currently pursuing a B.S. in Psychology with a Masters in Social Work at Prairie View A&M University, balancing rigorous academics with his passion for athletics.
Damion's journey in track and field began with a drive to explore his untapped athletic potential. He graduated from Plano High School, where he laid the foundation for his athletic career. Inspired by the achievements of renowned athletes like Mondo Duplantis, Damion has set his sights on achieving greatness in his sport. His passion for track is fueled by his ultimate goal of becoming a champion and pushing himself to new heights.
One of Damion’s most memorable moments in track and field was traveling to New York City with his teammates, creating unforgettable experiences and strong bonds. He recognizes that one of the greatest challenges for athletes today is avoiding complacency and continually striving for improvement.
Outside of track, Damion enjoys playing basketball and indulging in his love for seafood. His favorite movie is Friday, and he admires Mondo Duplantis as his favorite athlete. Mardi Gras holds a special place in his heart as his favorite holiday because it brings the vibrant parades and celebrations to his city.
In five years, Damion aspires to be an established healthcare professional, working towards making a positive impact in the field. His dream job is to be a Clinical Psychologist, combining his interest in mental health with his desire to help others. Damion chose Prairie View A&M University because the campus felt like a place where he could thrive and truly call home, offering the supportive environment he needed to pursue his goals.
