Biography

Mason Scales is a sophomore track and field athlete at Prairie View A&M University, specializing in the 100 meters and 200 meters. With personal bests of 11.0 seconds in the 100 meters and 22.0 seconds in the 200 meters, Mason is a promising sprinter with a strong commitment to improving his performance.

Originally from Dallas, TX, Mason graduated from Kathlyn Joy Gilliam High School, where he first developed his love for running. His interest in track began as a child, driven by his natural enjoyment of running and discovering that others competed in the sport. Mason’s drive to succeed comes from a deep sense of dedication and discipline, something that motivates him to push forward in his training.

One of Mason’s most memorable moments in track and field came when he won his first individual 200-meter race. The victory marked the culmination of his hard work and dedication, and it solidified his passion for the sport. Looking ahead, Mason’s goal is to help lead his team to a SWAC championship at PVAMU, continuing his track career with focus and determination.

Mason is studying Mechanical Engineering at Prairie View A&M, choosing the school for its strong academic program, its HBCU status, and its proximity to his hometown in Dallas. Outside of track, Mason enjoys watching anime, playing video games, and working out. His favorite food is anything edible, particularly burgers, and his all-time favorite movie is Coming to America.

In five years, Mason sees himself developing into a person worth admiring, beyond his athletic pursuits. His dream job is to reach a point in life where he no longer has to work a traditional job.

Mason’s passion for track is fueled by his sense of discipline and his desire to compete at the highest level, and he is determined to achieve great things in his collegiate career and beyond.
