Rhonda Jackson enters her third year as director of operations for the Prairie View A&M women’s basketball team.
In her role, Jackson manages several off-the-court aspects of the program and serves as the team’s liaison to athletics administration in a variety of areas, such as student-athlete housing, community outreach and program publicity efforts.
The Panthers have made consecutive trips to the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament, with a run to the semifinals in the 2018-19 campaign where the team posted a 17-14 (13-5 SWAC) record and ultimately played in the Women’s National Invitational Tournament.
Before her arrival to the Hill, Jackson served in a similar role for Southern University, a spot she held from 2014 – 2018. While there, the Jaguars were perennial contenders, winning conference regular season championships in 2014, 2016 (shared with Alabama State and Texas Southern) and 2018. In all, Southern posted a combined record of 70-20 in SWAC play over Jackson’s tenure and advanced to the SWAC tournament finals in 2015, 2016 and 2018.
Prior to her foray into women’s basketball, Jackson carved out a successful career in the field of accounting and financial oversight. The Cedar Hill, Texas native earned a bachelor’s degree in health and Kinesiology from the University of Arkansas in 1996 and received an associate’s degree in science from Cedar Valley College in 1999.
