Prairie View A&M University Athletics

Aida Mariatou Kane Diallo, a freshman from Rockwall, Texas. A graduate of Rockwall Heath High School and a marketing major, Aida enters her collegiate career with personal bests of 19:34 in the 5K, 11:39 in the 3200m, and 5:26 in the 1600m. Her journey in distance running began when her former coach, Julie Dalfrey, recruited her as a freshman and introduced her to the possibilities and growth that running could offer.

One of Aida’s most memorable experiences in the sport came during her final high school cross country district meet, where her teammates cheered her on during the last 100 meters, an emotional and defining moment for her. That team spirit and support helped influence her decision to attend Prairie View A&M. She was drawn to the university by the positive and uplifting energy she felt during her visit and looks forward to being part of a community that encourages both athletic and personal growth.

Her goals for the season include remaining in the top three runners on the team, while her long-term vision includes medaling at the SWAC Championships, qualifying for regionals and nationals, and becoming a role model for younger Black girls. She also aspires to one day work in the field of sports marketing.

Outside of running, Aida enjoys listening to music, crafting, eating, sleeping, and watching scary movies, especially around Halloween, her favorite holiday. Her favorite entertainer is Adam Sandler, and she is a fan of comfort foods like wings, sandwiches with chips, and chicken Alfredo. With a fun-loving personality, strong work ethic, and big goals ahead, Aida is ready to make her mark at Prairie View A&M.
