Biography
Titilope Akinwunmi, a senior at Prairie View A&M University, has been a member of the cross country teamĀ for three years. Hailing from Houston, Texas, Titilope has achieved a personal best of 22:53 in her events and notably placed in the 10K at the SWAC Outdoor Track and Field championships. Her goal for the current cross country season is to win the SWAC title and break the 20-minute barrier in the 5K.
Majoring in Psychology with a minor in Chemistry, Titilope's academic and athletic pursuits are deeply intertwined. Her passion for running was inspired by her mother and further fueled by her former teammate, Runelda Jackson. Titilope's most memorable moment in sports is winning the SWAC Outdoor Track and Field meet, a highlight of her collegiate career.
Outside of athletics, Titilope enjoys the simplicity of running as a hobby and finds joy in the holiday season, particularly Christmas, for its festive lights and church services. Her favorite all-time movie is "The Joker," and she listens to Rod Wave as her favorite entertainer. French fries are her go-to comfort food.
Looking to the future, Titilope aspires to own a private practice as an adolescent psychiatrist and dreams of working as an adolescent or sports psychiatrist. She chose Prairie View A&M for its vibrant campus culture and sense of community, which resonate deeply with her values and aspirations. Titilope acknowledges that mental health is a significant challenge for todayās athletes and is committed to addressing this issue through her future career.
