Randy Washington

Randy Washington enters his third season with the men's and women's track and field teams.  He main focus is to work with the pole vaulters and high jumpers on both teams.

Previously he had been working with Panther basketball staff as the team’s coordinator of video operations for six years.

Washington is responsible for assisting the coaching staff with all aspects of video, including tape exchange and film breakdown. His duties also include managing the tape exchange program and assisting the coaching staff with administrative and on-court duties.  With Washington on staff, the Panthers have had a solid turnaround on the court with five consecutive SWAC Tournament appearances since the 2008-09 campaign.

Before coming to Prairie View, Washington served as the junior varsity head coach and the varsity assistant coach for two years at Houston Christian High School.

A dual-sport athlete at South Plains Junior College in Levelland, Texas, Washington participated on the school’s track & field and basketball teams from 1983 to 1984 and captured a national championship as pole vaulter in 1984.  Washington moved on to Texas Tech for his final two years and was the team’s top pole vaulter in the 1985 and 86’ SWC Championships and the top javelin thrower in 1986.

Washington received a bachelor’s in telecommunications with a minor in music from Texas Tech.  He’s married with two kids and resides in Katy, Texas.
