2024-25 Women's Track and Field Roster
Biography
Lashavia Barclay is a sophomore track and field athlete at Prairie View A&M University, competing in hurdles. Originally from Humble, Texas, she attended Atascocita High School, where she was inspired to run track by her big sister. Her dedication to the sport has led her to Prairie View, where she is majoring in Biology and continuing to pursue her athletic goals.
Lashavia’s passion for track is deeply motivated by her mother’s sacrifices, pushing her to strive for greatness on the track. One of her most memorable moments came when her relay team won a state medal as a wild card entry—something no one, including the team themselves, expected. The emotion of the victory, when she fell into her teammates’ arms, has stayed with her ever since.
Her favorite all-time movie is The Hunger Games, and she’s a fan of Chris Brown’s music. Lashavia enjoys cooking and doing lashes in her free time. Her favorite food is salmon, broccoli, and rice, and she loves the joyful spirit of Christmas, which is her favorite holiday.
In the next five years, Lashavia hopes to be midway through her second round of schooling, progressing toward her career goal of becoming an anesthesiologist. Her goal for this season is to continue improving in the hurdles and advancing toward her ultimate goal of being a strong, successful Black woman in the medical field.
She chose Prairie View A&M for its strong academic reputation, particularly in preparing Black women for careers in medicine, and for the supportive, empowering HBCU experience.
