Carrington “CC” Cook brings a competitive spirit, heart and determination to the Prairie View A&M volleyball program. The Houston native was inspired to play volleyball by Taylor Bannister, an LSU volleyball alum and professional player in Poland, while the film Remember the Titans serves as one of her inspirational favorites.
Cook chose Prairie View A&M because of its culture, family atmosphere and the people who make the university special. Representing the Panthers carries an even deeper meaning for Cook, whose mother, Rosemary Cook, is a Prairie View A&M alumna. She embraces the opportunity to continue her family's legacy while representing the university both on the court and in the classroom.
For Cook, being a Panther means honoring the culture and traditions of Prairie View A&M and helping create a legacy for future generations. She takes pride in representing the university as both a student-athlete and a Black woman at a prestigious HBCU.
Her favorite volleyball memory is the time spent with teammates during bus rides, sharing games and conversations. She would choose a game-winning kill over an ace, and her favorite pregame meal is Tropical Smoothie. Cook's favorite game-day tradition is joining her teammates in the "PV, you know!" chant before each match.
Outside of volleyball, Cook enjoys Bridgerton, Outer Banks, Stranger Things, SpongeBob, Monster High, Criminal Minds, Marvel and Love Island. She also enjoys her family's annual Christmas cook-off, which makes the holiday extra special since her birthday is just four days later.
A self-described competitor, Cook believes mental health and the will to win are among the greatest challenges facing athletes today. Her hidden talent? She is double-jointed in her fingers.
