Biography
D'Mya Hill, a sophomore outside hitter from Lubbock, Texas, is pursuing a degree in Kinesiology at Prairie View A&M. She transferred from Western Texas College and has been deeply inspired to play volleyball by her mother and sister, who have been pivotal in her athletic journey.
Her favorite all-time movie is Princess and the Frog, and she admires Taraji P. Henson as her favorite entertainer. D'Mya loves seafood and finds Christmas to be her favorite holiday, appreciating the time spent with family and friends while celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. Her hobbies include making rubber band bracelets, reading, and listening to music.
D'Mya’s passion for volleyball is fueled by her experience overcoming three ACL tears. This challenging journey has taught her the value of perseverance and the belief that every setback has the potential for a significant comeback. She acknowledges that the greatest challenges for athletes today include dealing with injuries and managing mental health.
One of her most memorable moments in sport is her comeback from three ACL tears and continuing her athletic career into college. Looking ahead five years, D'Mya aims to graduate from college and try out for a professional volleyball team, with the goal of making the team and succeeding at the professional level.
Her dream job is to become a collegiate volleyball coach. D'Mya chose Prairie View A&M because of the welcoming atmosphere she experienced during her visit, where the coaches and teammates treated her like family. The supportive student life and the sense of belonging made Prairie View A&M feel like home.
