MaKinzie Taplin, a junior setter from Glenn Heights, Texas, is majoring in Kinesiology at Prairie View A&M. She previously attended Red Oak High School and has been driven to play volleyball by her mother, who has been a significant source of inspiration in her athletic journey.

MaKinzie’s favorite all-time movie is Princess and the Frog, and she holds Denzel Washington in high regard as her favorite entertainer. Her favorite foods are enchiladas and fries, and she loves Christmas for the time it allows her to spend with family, filled with love and the spirit of giving. In her free time, MaKinzie enjoys planting, working out, and spending quality moments with her family.

Her passion for volleyball is deeply rooted in her admiration for her mother, who has always encouraged her. MaKinzie believes that the greatest challenges for athletes today include managing mental health, striving for perfection, comparing oneself to others, and dealing with favoritism.

One of her most memorable experiences in volleyball has been forming lifelong friendships through the sport. Looking ahead five years, MaKinzie hopes to be in her first year of medical school, working towards a career in NFL sports medicine.

MaKinzie chose Prairie View A&M because of its strong sense of community and vibrant culture, which made her feel at home and supported in her academic and athletic endeavors.
