Prairie View A&M University Athletics

Taylor Jackson, a senior middle blocker/right-side hitter from Cypress, Texas, is majoring in Human Nutrition & Food at Prairie View A&M. She previously attended Cypress Springs High School and Nicholls State University. Taylor’s passion for volleyball was sparked at a young age while watching college matches with her mother.

Her favorite all-time movies are from the Step Up series, particularly from parts 2 to 5, and Michael Jackson is her favorite entertainer. Taylor enjoys dining at Chipotle or savoring Buffalo wings. Christmas is her favorite holiday for the quality time it allows her to spend with family. In her free time, she indulges in painting, reading, and trying new restaurants.

Taylor’s drive to play volleyball stems from her love for the sport’s competitiveness and the supportive team culture. She believes that one of the greatest challenges for athletes today is balancing a social life with their athletic commitments while also finding their true identity outside of sports.

Among her most memorable moments in volleyball are the experiences that taught her to manage her social life and find her identity beyond the game. Looking ahead five years, Taylor hopes to have worked as a registered nurse (RN) and to have been accepted into nurse practitioner (NP) school.

Taylor chose Prairie View A&M due to its strong connection to her family heritage, as she comes from a long line of PVAMU alumni. The university’s proximity to home, its vibrant school culture, and the pride associated with being a Panther also influenced her decision.
