Harmon joined the PVAMU Department of Athletics in the role of Athletic Academic Advisor II in January of 2024. He will be working primarily with the football program.
Jason brings 13 years of experience in admissions, recruiting, academic advising, student program development, career development, and counseling. He arrived on the Hill from Bauer College of Business (University of Houston), where he had a two-year stint as the Assistant Director of Recruiting. He also assisted with academic advising and the entire admissions process.
Previously, Harmon worked for Academic Partnerships as a senior admissions and enrollment specialist, in which he represented numerous Universities and online programs from 2013 to 2020. This list consists of Louisiana State University, University of Texas (Austin), University of Texas at Arlington, and North Texas University. Harmon’s prior stop was El Centro College in Downtown Dallas, Texas from 2010 to 2011.
With Harmon being a prior student-athlete himself, he also has a background in coaching and training.
Harmon earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in 2004, in which he was a 4-year football player (3-year starter) for the Spartans as a defensive back. Harmon was a 2-year team captain for the Spartans (2003,2004), which was voted on by his teammates. Harmon also played professional football with the Chicago Bears (practice squad) in 2005, NFL Europe (Frankfurt Galaxy) in 2006, and the Arena Football League (AFL) with the Colorado Crush (2007-2009) and Dallas Vigilantes (2010-2011).
