Mylene Cannon began her role as an Assistant Athletics Communications Director at Prairie View A&M University in 2024. During her time at PVAMU, she has helped increase coverage for soccer, bowling, cross country, and track & field while also supporting home game coverage for all sports. She also helps oversee the student media team and brings additional skills in photography and graphic design to enhance athletics coverage and storytelling.

Prior to her role at Prairie View A&M, Cannon served as the Sports Director for the Grand Prairie Family YMCA, Moorland Family YMCA at Oak Cliff, and Park South YMCA from 2022–2024, overseeing the youth sports programs for all three branches simultaneously. She played a pivotal role in revitalizing the youth sports program across the branches, leading to significant growth, stronger morale, and greater community involvement among coaches, players, and parents. Within two years, she successfully established a well-structured sports program that laid a strong foundation for continued success.

Outside of her YMCA leadership, Cannon was a part of the Stat Crew for the WNBA’s Dallas Wings and the NBA G-League’s Texas Legends. Additionally, she serves as a media reporter for Texas MileSplit, covering high school track & field and cross country meets throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and other parts of Texas.

A Dallas, Texas native, Cannon earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management from Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina, in 2017, where she excelled as a student-athlete on the women’s track & field and cross-country team. She competed at the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championship in 2016 and earned NCAA Division II Track & Field All-American and All-CIAA team honors, while also interning in the Sports Information Department.

Cannon is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and is happily married to her husband, Terrance Jackson.
