Tre Glover was the lone offensive ALl-SWAC Selection

Six members of the Prairie View A&M Panther football team were rewarded for their efforts this past fall with a spot on the 2012 All-SWAC Football Team.  The Panthers had one student-athlete named to the first team while five earned a spot on the second team.  In addition, freshman Johnta' Hebert was selected as the SWAC's Freshman of the Year.

Spencer Nelson capped off his career at Prairie View A&M in style as the senior was selected to the All-SWAC First Team as a returner.  A native of Jonesboro, Ga., Nelson led the SWAC and ranked fourth nationally in punt return average with 16.5 yards per return.  An all-around performer on the gridiron, Nelson was a dual threat in PV's offensive game plan as he caught 60 receptions for 577 yards in addition to rushing for 188 yards and four rushing touchdowns.

Headlining the All-SWAC Second Team for the Panthers are redshirt sophomore offensive tackle Tre Glover, sophomore linebacker Jerome Howard, senior defensive back Brian Medlock, redshirt sophomore kicker Chris Barrick and freshman kick returner Johnta' Hebert.

Glover was the anchor of an offensive line which helped produce the SWAC's top offensive unit this past season.  The Panthers averaged 415.6 yards per contest in 2012 while also finishing second in pass offense (228.91) and third overall in rush offense (186.7).   Glover also played a big role in protecting the quarterback as Prairie View A&M ranked third amongst SWAC foes in sacks allowed.

Howard had a solid sophomore season as the linebacker from Sunrise, Fla. led the Panthers with 101 tackles, including 12.5 tackles for loss and eight pass breakups.  Medlock, a senior from Arlington, Texas, tied for the SWAC lead with four interceptions while also accounting for 46 tackles and four pass breakups.

The Panthers fielded one of the top special teams units in the SWAC this season as three specialists earned league honors with two named to the All-SWAC Second Team.  Redshirt sophomore Chris Barrick capped off a career-best season at placekicker as he finished 9-of-11 in field goals and 38-of-40 in PATs.  A Copperas Cove, Texas native, Barrick also ranked first on the team in scoring with 65 total points.

Johnta' Hebert put forth a solid freshman campaign as the Baton Rouge, La. native earned the SWAC's Freshman of the Year Honor and a spot on the All-SWAC Second Team as a kick returner.  Hebert , who played running back and served as PV's primary kick returner, ranked second in the SWAC with an 18.9-yard kickoff return average along with one touchdown via a kickoff return against Grambling State.  Hebert also led the SWAC in all-purpose yardage with 121.7 yards per outing as he tallied 926 kick return yards, 196 receiving yards and 217 rushing yards on the ground.
