The Prairie View A&M soccer team signed five standouts for the 2013 season. Coach
Abe Garcia said they will play a significant impact in the quest for a Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament Championship.
Garcia's signees are all junior college transfers. Midfielder
Celene Batrez and defender
Ivana Ramirez come to Prairie View A&M from San Bernardino Valley College. Batrez was named second-team All-West Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and first team All-Foothill Conference this past fall. She led the Conference in assists with eight, and finished fifth in Conference in shots taken with 24. Batrez was also named to the 2011 honorable mention All-Foothill Conference.
Dominique Paige, a forward from Polk State, registered two goals as freshman and played a role in her team's success this year. She will be joined by defenders Jacqueline Eaves from Mt. San Antonio College and
Melissa Kalbfleisch from Feather River Junior College.
“I am excited about this incoming signing class because of the experience each of our new student-athletes will bring in,” Garcia said. “This class will add talent and depth to our existing squad. I am confident that if we stay healthy we will be a strong contender for conference title.”
