The SWAC Western Division Champion Prairie View A&M soccer team kicked off its second day of camp on Friday with conditioning and team-building drills.
Coach Abe Garcia is working to get his players to be fit and cohesive early as he tries to get off to a fast start this season after being ousted in the 2012 SWAC Tournament semifinal game on penalty kicks. He will rely on veterans like All-SWAC defender Debbie Arguelles, All-SWAC forward Angie Guillory and All-SWAC midfielder Katherine Sheppard to lead a relatively young team on the quest for a SWAC Tournament Championship.
“I'm most excited about getting over that hump,” Guillory said after the morning session of two-a-days. “I'm excited about trying to get to the finals and winning and coming back with a ring.”
Prairie View A&M will kick off its season on Friday, Aug. 23 at Lamar in Beaumont. Continue to follow camp updates at www.PVPANTHERS.com.
