Jamespaul Bryant were selected as the SWAC's Offensive and Newcomer of the Week, respectively after Prairie View A&M's 37-13 Labor Day Classic win over Texas Southern last weekend.
A native of Lake Charles, La., Brown got off to a strong start as he rushed for 98 yards on 14 attempts with two touchdowns. He also caught five passes for a total of 85 yards. Brown is off to another solid start in 2013 after leading the Panthers with nine rushing touchdowns last fall.
In his first-ever collegiate game nearly minutes from where he attended high school, Bryant logged eight tackles and had a tackle for loss, one sack, quarterback hurry and a fumble recovery.
The Panthers return to play this weekend as they'll face Texas State in San Marcos, Texas on Saturday at 6 p.m.
