Prairie View A&M junior middle blocker Magda Zietek earned the first Southwestern Athletic Conference Newcomer Of The Week Award for the 2013 season on Wednesday.

The 6-1 defensive and offensive force from Elbag, Poland was a pillar of stability in the roller coaster opening weekend for the Lady Panthers, who went 1-2 in the Texas Southern Invitational. 

Zietek was named Newcomer of the Week after registering a double-double during her first-career Division I match. In a 3-0 win over Southern she had 10 kills, 12 digs and .421 hitting percentage. Zietek completed the first of week of the season with 22 kills, 16 digs, and 49 total attacks.
