Prairie View A&M Athletics will host a pair of Southwestern Athletic Conference championships in the upcoming 2016-17 season.

"The Hill" will host the league's soccer championships November 3-6 at Prairie View's new Soccer Complex. On May 5-7, the 2017 SWAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held at PVAMU's new Outdoor Track Stadium.

"We are excited to host these conference championships on the Prairie View A&M campus this season," Athletic Director Ashley Robinson said. "In addition to providing our student-athletes with outstanding home facilities, it gives our University the ability to host these SWAC championships and an opportunity to host others in the future."

The new soccer and track facilities are two of many athletics construction projects completed or ongoing. This past spring, the grandstand was completed at Tankersley Field, home of Panther Baseball. In June, the new Athletic Administration Building opened.

On Sunday September 4, the new Blackshear Field will open before a capacity crowd for the Labor Day Classic football game as the Panthers host Texas Southern in a nationally televised game on ESPNU at 5 p.m.

In February 2017, a renovated softball complex will open on the PVAMU campus.
