The Prairie View A&M Lady Panther soccer team could not overcome an early deficit and lost in a 3-0 decision to Arkansas-Pine Bluff Friday night at the Lady Panther Soccer Field.
For the third game in a row Prairie View A&M had more shots on goal than its opponent, but it could not take advantage of those opportunities. The Lady Panthers had six shots on goal, five of which came from the foot of Yosselyn Aguilar.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff was efficient with its few shots, scoring its three goals on just four shots on goal and 10 total shots. Silvia Fuentes scored the first goal of the game for Arkansas-Pine Bluff five minutes into the match, and Rachel Marker added a goal in the 16th-minute and the 71st-minute to put the game out of reach.
Prairie View became more aggressive in the second half after Maria Sanchez left the game with an injury, but it could not capitalize on the extra shots in the second half.
The Lady Panthers will have their home finale against Grambling State at 1 p.m. Sunday on the soccer field.
