BERKELEY, Calif. - Prairie View A&M overcame a 13-point second half deficit to snap a six-game losing streak and beat Cal State Bakersfield 69-64 in the consolation round of the Cal Classic Sunday afternoon in Berkeley, Calif.

Freshman point guard Jeanette Jackson made two clutch free throws and then hit Kiara Etinne on a fast break layup to put the Lady Panthers in an unfamiliar situation this season, holding a lead late in the game. With the 60-54 lead, Prairie View A&M (2-6) responded with the composure of a veteran squad by closing out the game and taking out the Lady Road Runners (2-7).

Kiara Etienne made layup through contact and knocked down the foul shot with 8:30 left in the game to cut her team's deficit to 54-51 on the three-point play. Minutes later she hit Michaela Burton on a drive and dish. Burton's three with 6:45 left in the game tied the score at 56.

The Lady Roadrunners started the second half off on a 6-2 run to jump out to a 45-32 lead. However, the Lady Panthers countered with a full-court trap that led to two turnovers and a 6-0 run. Kiara Etienne's floater with 15:37 left in the game cut the Lady Panthers' deficit to 45-38.

However, the Roadrunners closed the half out on a 7-0 run that included a three-point shot at the buzzer by Brooklynn Hinkens to extend her team's halftime lead to 39-30.

The Lady Panthers struggled out of the gate offensively, only scoring eight points in the first eight minutes of the game. Prairie View A&M only hit 25 percent of its shots during that span.

Her second three with 10:55 left in the half cut her team's deficit to 15-14, and Larissa Scott capped off the 8-0 run with a fast break layup to give the Lady Panthers their first lead of the game at 16-15 with 10:32 left in the half.
