GRAMBLING, La. – Nothing went right for the Prairie View A&M Panthers on Friday night as Grambling State rolled to a 64-33 victory at the Fred Hobdy Assembly Center.
Prairie View A&M led 10-8 at the 15:09 mark of the first stanza but fell behind as Grambling State went on a 13-1 run to take control. The Panthers would draw as close as 11 points on two occasions in the half but Grambling remained hot as they went into the half up by 15 at 34-19.
Nothing went right in the second half for Prairie View as they could only muster five points during a 14-minute span. On the opposite end of the court, the shots kept on falling for the Tigers as they stormed out to a 52-26 advantage. Prairie View's Michael Griffin ended the drought with a trey at the 6:21 mark but once again, that would be the lone highlight of the half as PV would only score five points the remainder of the contest.
Griffin and Brandon Webb led Prairie View with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Webb also had eight rebounds while Griffin followed with six. The win for Grambling State marked its first over PV since 2007.
Prairie View returns to action on Monday as they travel to Jackson, Miss. for its second consecutive ESPNU showdown beginning at 8 p.m.
