HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers split their final two games of the 2011 SWAC Softball Roundups at Tatum Park in Hattiesburg, Miss.  PV opened the morning with a 6-3 win over Alabama A&M before closing out the event with a 3-2 extra inning loss to Jackson State.

In the opener, sophomore Brittanie Gardner played the role of ironwoman as she batted 3-for-3 along with striking out seven en route to a 6-3 win over Alabama A&M.

Prairie View A&M scored the game's first run off a throwing error but surrendered the lead in the third as AAMU took a 2-1 margin.  The Lady Panthers answered in the bottom frame as Kesha Hagerman tied the game with a RBI double and moved PV ahead after scoring on a passed ball. An RBI single by Sarina Rios several batters later upped PV's lead to 4-2.

The Lady Panthers continued to score as they crossed home two more runs in the fifth for a 6-2 advantage after RBIs from Artavia Woods and Katelyn Den Beste.  AAMU scored once in the sixth but that would be it as PV picked up its second win of the roundup.

In game two, Jackson State crossed home the winning run in the top of the eighth to escape with an extra inning 3-2 win.

Bridget Coronado led PV at the plate with a 2-for-4 performance followed by two RBIs from Hagerman.  Coronado also struck out seven as she allowed two earned runs on the mound.
