Softball Dominates Doubleheader Over Texas College

TYLER, Texas –
Prairie View A&M traveled to East Texas on Thursday and recorded a doubleheader sweep over Texas College by scores of 12-1 and 11-2.
In game one, Prairie View exploded for five first-inning runs en route to a 12-1 win.
The Lady Panthers had no trouble in the opener as they combined for 12 runs over the first three innings of play. Freshman Leanna Flores had an impressive outing with three runs scored and a 4-for-4 performance at the plate while Lauren Grun and Reneisha Morris both accounted for two hits and two RBIs. Brittanie Gardner picked up the win while striking out three.
Prairie View A&M overcame an early two-run deficit in the nightcap and cruised to an 11-x victory behind the strength of 18 hits.
The Lady Steers scored two early runs in the second before PV trimmed its deficit in half during the third on Flores' RBI single. Prairie View moved ahead for good in the fifth after RBIs from Flores and Darlene Salinas.         
Lauren Grun and Flores led PV with three hits each. Flores also tallied a team-leading three RBIs while Grun earned the win on the mound.
PV returns to action on Friday as they begin divisional play at Grambling State with a 4 p.m. first pitch.
