Arkansas-Pine Bluff crossed home the winning run in the top of the eighth to rally past Prairie View 11-10 in extra innings on Friday afternoon at the Lady Panther Softball Field.

Down 6-5 in the sixth, Prairie View erupted for five runs on five hits as they claimed a 10-6 lead heading into the seventh and final frame. The Lady Panthers ran into trouble in the seventh as they issued three consecutive walks which loaded the bases with no outs. As a result, PV made a pitching change and inserted Brittanie Gardner and the sophomore managed to get out of the jam somewhat as she picked up two outs while allowing a run.

With two outs, UAPB's Heather Leigh doubled to center but was thrown out at second after an attempt to reach third. However, Leigh drove in three RBIs to knot the contest at 10-all which sent the contest into extra frames as PV was held scoreless in the seventh.

UAPB's Brinaya Henderson reached base via a one-out single in the eighth and moved into scoring position after a passed ball. Gardner picked up the second out but UAPB's Jill Howard singled to center to drive in the go-ahead run.

PV pounded out 19 hits with Artavia Woods finishing 4-for-5 with a pair of RBIs and runs scored. Leanna Flores and Lauren Grun added two RBIs while Katelyn den Beste finished 3-for-3.
