Prairie View A&M dropped a pair of soccer matches during a swing to the state of Louisiana this past weekend. The Lady Panthers fell 1-0 to McNeese State on Friday and 4-0 to Nicholls State on Sunday.
On Friday night, McNeese State scored early in the first half and held on as they defeated PV 1-0.
McNeese State's Johna Germany scored 13 minutes into the first half off an assist from Sarah LaLanne. The Lady Panthers struggled offensively in the half as they were outshot 12-0. In the second stanza, the defense clamped down and held MSU scoreless while garnering three shots on the offensive end from Yosselyn Aguilar, Nahuacali Romo-Lara and Maria Sanchez. Freshman goalie Bianza Garza finished the contest with 11 saves.
On Sunday, the offense had its chances but fell short as Nicholls State scored three goals in the second half to break open a close game en route to a 4-0 win.
NSU scored the game's first goal and the lone point in the first half via a penalty kick. The Colonels added their second goal early in the second half before sealing the contest with two late goals in the 80th-minute.
Aguilar was active on Sunday with six shots and four shots on goal. Freshman Reina Mata had two shots and a shot on goal while J.D. Devany finished with a shot.
Prairie View A&M returns to action this Friday as they'll battle Texas-San Antonio at 7 p.m. in San Antonio.
