The Prairie View A&M men's basketball team closes out their homestand Monday evening as they'll host Arkansas-Pine Bluff on ESPNU beginning at 8:05 p.m. in the William J. Nicks Building.

The Panthers hit a major road block on Saturday night as a promising first half was overshadowed by a disappointing 17-point second half performance in an 81-57 loss to undefeated Mississippi Valley State.  In addition, the loss ended a two-game winning streak for the Panthers which also marked the second loss at home this season.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff has been a thorn in Prairie View A&M's side over the past few seasons as they've won 11-of-13 against the Panthers.  Head coach Byron Rimm II is 2-9 against UAPB during his tenure with both wins taking place in Prairie View during the 2009 and 2011 campaigns.  Expect a close game between both teams as there've been two overtime contests played over the past three seasons.

The shooting tandem of guard Ryan Gesiakowski and Louis Munks have been hot recently as the duo tied for the scoring lead with 14 points each against MVSU on Saturday.  They've combined to hit 51 of the team's 89 three-pointers made this season and have recorded three of the top five scoring performances for the Panthers heading into Monday's game.

Jourdan DeMuynck leads the Panthers in scoring with 9.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per game while sophomore forward Demondre Chapman follows with 8.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and a SWAC-leading 57 percent field goal percentage.  Gesiakowski is third on the team with 8.6 points along with Munks' 8.3 points.  Sophomore forward Jules Montgomery is the top rebounder with 6.2 boards and leads the team with 22 blocks.

UAPB (2-17, 1-5 SWAC) has only won two games this season with one occurring in SWAC play.  The Golden Lions, who lost to TSU on Saturday, has only won once in the past 16 contests.  Despite the record, guard Savalace Townsend has been on a tear recently as he leads the SWAC in scoring with 17.5 points per game.  Forward Daniel Broughton follows with 10.3 points and 5.2 boards per game while forward Mitchell Anderson leads the team with 5.4 rebounds.

All of Prairie View A&M's SWAC contests will be broadcasted live on KPVU 91.3 FM with Leonard Moon calling the action.  The station can be heard via the airwaves or Internet at www.pvamu.edu/kpvu.  Smartphone and tablet users can also hear the game live by downloading the Tune-In application for their respective devices and selecting KPVU 91.3 FM

The games will also be video streamed live through the PVPanthers.com website.

Prairie View A&M will travel to Alabama next weekend to face Alabama State on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 3 p.m. in Montgomery, Ala. before wrapping up the trip at Alabama A&M in Huntsville, Ala. on Monday, Jan.30 at 5:30 p.m.

Prairie View's next home game will take place on Saturday, Feb. 4 as they'll face SWAC rival TSU in a 5:30 p.m. doubleheader.
