HOUSTON - Prairie View A&M struck first in their 5-1 non-conference loss to Houston Baptist Monday night in Houston, however, HBU proved to be too much for the Lady Panthers to handle defensively.
Sophomore forward Gabriela Ramos scored her third goal of the season to give Prairie View A&M a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute. She took a pass from senior forward Yosselyn Aguilar and shot it just below the crossbar for the score.
The Huskies (6-5-3) tied it with a goal from Arielle Rodriguez in the 23rd minute as Prairie View A&M sophomore keeper Bianca Garza gave up her only goal of the game. She played just 27 minutes and recorded three saves, a sign that coach Abe Garcia wanted to give players needed minutes before the start of the Southwestern Athletic Conference schedule which begins at noon Friday at Grambling State.
Freshman keeper Abigail Personius was given the loss. She gave up four goals and had no saves in 36 minutes before being spelled by fellow freshman keeper Dominique Dillion. Dillion recorded three saves in 25 minutes off the bench.
Prairie View A&M was out-shot 28-6 in the loss as they dropped to 3-8 on the season.
