Prairie View A&M Soccer Continues Hot Streak

BOX SCORE

ALCORN STATE, Miss. - With its 3-1 win over Alcorn State on Friday night, Prairie View A&M improved to 3-0 against Southwestern Athletic Conference opponents this season and has won four of its last five games, proving to be the hottest team in the SWAC.

Senior midfielder Navyd Diaz broke the ice in the eighth minute with a goal off of an assist by junior forward Angie Guillory, and the Lady Panthers held Alcorn State scoreless for the remainder of the period, taking a 1-0 lead into the half.

Guillory picked up her third point of the game with a unassisted goal in the 54th minute to give Prairie View A&M a 2-0 lead. Maria Sanchez then followed it up four minutes later with a goal of her own thanks to a pass by Yosselyn Aguilar to put the Lady Panthers up 3-0.

Prairie View A&M coach Abe Garcia took star goalie Bianca Garza out of the game with the match out of reach with 30 minutes remaining. Garza hasn't given up a goal in two games, going 60 minutes for the Lady Panthers against Alcorn State with one save.

Freshman keeper Dominique Dillion got the nod as Garza took a rest and played nearly 30 minutes of scoreless soccer. Her only goal scored against her came in the 89th minute off of a penalty kick by the Lady Braves' Chavon Douglas.

The Lady Panthers look to take their three-game win streak into Itta Bena, Miss. where they will take on Mississippi Valley State at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
