The Prairie View A&M volleyball team struck with precision and confidence Wednesday night in a 3-0 win over Grambling State to improve to 2-0 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.
The Lady Panthers had three players record attack percentages over .429 including: freshman outside hitter Charae Caldwell (10 kills, .562 attack percentage), freshman right side Rachel Owens (seven kills, .571 percentage) and senior outside hitter Breanna McNeil (eight kills, .429 percentage). Prairie View A&M finished with a .347 team attack percentage and just 12 total attack errors in a dominating 25-19, 25-10, 25-19 performance.
Senior outside hitter Bruna Menezes finished with her second-consecutive match of 10 or more kills. She followed up a season-high 17-kill performance against McNeese State on Sept. 27 with a 10-kill match against Grambling on Wednesday.
Five-time back-to-back defending SWAC Newcomer of the week Kelsey Espinosa continued her impressive play with 27 assists, four digs and one kill. Prairie View A&M (6-15, 2-0 SWAC) will take on Alabama State at 2 p.m. on Friday in the Southern Invite before facing Jackson State at 9 a.m. in the same tournament.
