BOX SCORE

Everyone on the Prairie View A&M roster scored as they won their second straight non-conference affair following a 91-38 victory over Arlington Baptist on Tuesday night in the William Nicks Building.

The Panthers jumped out to a 12-0 lead slightly after the 15-minute mark as newcomer Josh Eleby and senior Jourdan DeMuynck led the way with a pair of baskets apiece.  The Panthers allowed their first basket of the night at the 14:42 mark and watched their deficit shrink to nine points at 14-5 as Hugo Rodriguez scored a layup in the paint.  A Louis Munks trey and Wesley Afolayan basket upped PV's lead back to double digits (19-5) with 11:54 left in the first half.  From that point, it was all Prairie View A&M as the Panthers outscored the Patriots 29-16 to close out the half ahead 48-21.

Prairie View A&M was never threatened in the second half as the closest Arlington Baptist would draw was 24 points at the 18:55 mark.  The Panthers used a variety of lineups over the remainder of the half as the team cruised to their third straight win over the Patriots.  Prairie View A&M led by as much as 53 points with 45 seconds remaining on an Afolayan layup.

Five players scored in double figures with Eleby leading the way with 15 points.  Jules Montgomery and Munks both scored 13 points apiece while Rasi Jenkins and DeMuynck scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.  Montgomery also grabbed nine rebounds with Jenkins adding eight rebounds and five steals.

“We still have a lot to work on but I'm satisfied with how we played tonight,” said head coach Byron Rimm II.  “We have a long road ahead of us in terms of upcoming competition so we'll use this as a teaching tool as we head to Texas A&M on Thursday.”

The Panthers return to action in College Station, Texas on Thursday night as they'll battle Texas A&M at 7 p.m. in Reed Arena.
