BOX SCORE FORT WORTH, Texas - Prairie View A&M had its chances but came up short at the end as TCU used a 10-3 run down the stretch to edge the Panthers on Sunday in a South Padre Invitational game.
Kyan Anderson's 3-pointer at the six-minute mark broke a 32-32 tie, and he had another bucket to key TCU's game-ending run.
Defense was the key for the Panthers as they held TCU to its lowest winning point total since 1983.
TCU (3-1) made 30 percent of its shots, including just 5 for 20 in the first half, while Prairie View (2-3) shot 28 percent for the game.
Jourdan DeMuynck had 17 points for the Panthers, who struggled from the free-throw line, hitting 11 of 24 attempts. Carl Blair followed with nine points while Demondre Chapman grabbed seven rebounds.
The Panthers return to the court on Tuesday night as they'll face Alabama-Birmingham at 7 p.m. in Birmingham, Ala.
